As I have finished studying, I have more time to draw now. . . I've started using speedballs again - y'know, those cheap fountain pens with different tips that you dip in ink? - and, well, they kick ass.

They put my £10 Mars Professional to shame as far as versatility and the blackness of the ink when it's dried (of course, that's due to the MP using pigment ink which dries quicker at the expense of losing a shade or two of darkness and the ink I use with the fountain pens is India ink which takes longer to dry but is actually black when it dries)

But, as with all good things, there comes a price. Speedballs, to my limited experience thus-far, are rather temperamental. But, control over these beasts comes with time.

The only *really* bad side. . . I was dipping my favourite nib in ink when it fell straight out of the pen into the ink - right to the very bottom of a full bottle. . . It made a comical 'gloop' sound as it went it which softened the blow, but still. . . <<shakes fist>>
